What’s the difference between a wedding planner, wedding designer, & wedding coordinator?! While there are some general similarities and differences that I will discuss here, a wedding professional can truly be whatever they want to be. In order to know exactly what you’re getting, effective communication is crucial when choosing your wedding team.
Wedding Planner- A Wedding Planner is your guide through the wedding planning process. A lot of what a wedding planner does is behind-the-scenes, logistical, and informative in nature. She will point out inconsistencies in contracts, help keep your budget in check, and understand what it is that you should be doing at the current time. You can have a wedding planner along with you from your engagement through your wedding. Or, you can hire a planner in the middle of the process to help finish out your planning.
Wedding Designer- A wedding designer will help create a sensory experience. The look, taste, sound, smell, and feel of your wedding is crucial to the guest experience! A wedding designer can do everything from creating a mood board, sourcing the items you need to bring the vision to life, and executing the design on your actual wedding day. Plan on paying your designer a design fee, plus the cost of the decor items.
Wedding Coordinator- If you don’t hire a wedding planner or designer, at least get a Wedding Coordinator! A wedding coordinator will help you tie up any loose ends and coordinate the wedding pros that you hired. She will be your advocate on your wedding day to ensure everything goes smoothly. There is a lot of moving pieces to a wedding day, so make sure and ask what is included!
If you are in the Detroit or Ann Arbor areas, don’t hesitate to reach out if you need one of these services…even if you don’t know exactly what you need!
