Amelia & Matt are both from Metro Detroit but met in Chicago. They were in a long-distance
relationship for 1 1/2 years while Amelia finished grad school. They are both very passionate
about their work, Amelia in arts education and Matt in journalism. They have two cats that keep
them laughing, named Bubba and Mrs. Muffaletta.
They are such a fun couple! They were totally laid back and relaxed about their wedding, which is notable because they actually planned most of it themselves and DIY’d a lot of the elements of their wedding design! They hired me for Wedding Day Management, which means I came in about a month before the wedding, helped tie up any loose strings, & executed their vision. I love the many ways they made their wedding personalized and unique. Read on to hear more!
They made the awesome choice of renting a couple apartments through Airbnb for the entire wedding party to stay and get ready in. Both units were in the same building, which made it easy to share food and drink between them and hold the rehearsal. It was super convenient for the photographer to get great “getting ready” shots & for them to stage their first look!
A lot of the wedding party has theatre background, which you will see translates heavily in photos!
I love that they rented a trolley to move their wedding party around for photos and to go to the venue. It’s such a charming detail.
Back at the venue, my team was getting everything in place for the ceremony and guest arrival. (Yes, that is a custom family crest they used as their guestbook!) They loved The Eastern for their wedding venue due to its versatility. They were excited to incorporate highly personalized details into their wedding decor.
Their friends played live music during the ceremony. In face, their Officiant was a close friend, as well!
Let me tell you…theatre people know how to PARTY!
Amelia & Matt, I wish you a lifetime of happiness, laughter, and rubber chicken jokes! With your kindness, understanding, and zest for life, I know you will always enjoy life no matter what curveballs are thrown at you. I admire your generosity and philanthropy. Never lose that sense of giving back to your community. You make a difference!
